Mike Daisey brings his most controversial monologue to the Alliance Stage, sinking his razor-sharp wit into a subject he knows well: the American theater. In this acclaimed monologue about theater, failure, passion, and hope, Daisey fearlessly takes stock of the state of theater in America: a shrinking world with smaller audiences every year. This one-night performance of How Theater Failed America will be followed by a roundtable on the state of the American theater, featuring theater artists and administrators across Atlanta’s theater community in conversation with each other and the audience.

Stars of Atlanta’s cultural constellation will shine along with the American theatrical icon, the comedienne Elaine Stritch, at A Tony Evening, the second annual gala benefiting Atlanta’s own Tony Award-winning Alliance Theatre and its Children’s Educational Programming. A Tony Evening will open with cocktails on the panoramic terrace and be followed by a gourmet dinner, live auction of fabulous trips, experiences and luxuries, and lively musical performance by Elaine Stritch, who, at age 85, has just completed her most recent engagement at New York’s fabled Café Carlyle.
