The Alliance Theatre's Education program is truly comprehensive. We reach all ages, from 12 months old (yes, 12 months) and up through our Acting School, Theatre for the Very Young productions, and our Institute for Educators. Our curriculum features programs for learning to act (on stage or on camera), sharpening your business communication skills, better educating children, and just learning about theatre. Each season, we also offer most of our professional theatre productions during select school days for field trips.

The Alliance Theatre is currently accepting resumes for teachers and teaching artists to work with our educational programs.  Opportunities are available for acting classes/ spring & summer drama camps, and in-school.

Our free acting workshops are offered between each class session to give prospective students the opportunity to participate in a class and learn about all our offerings in a fun and supportive environment.

The Alliance Theatre, together with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, has adapted a nationally-awarded model developed by Dallas Theater Center to engage teens with authentic performing arts experiences during the current season.  In partnership with the Atlanta Public School System, the Theatre and Symphony will partner with ten Title 1 APS high schools and two Title 1 APS middle schools for four Alliance productions and one Symphony concert.

By combining our unique professional learning opportunities that the Institute for Educators and Teaching Artists offers with our thrilling field trip experiences, we are pleased to add “Extra Credit” to accent and further develop your experiences with the Alliance Theatre.

Alliance Rendering 1

The Alliance Theatre has released final design renderings of its theater transformation, which is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2017. This is the first major building reinvention for the theater since its construction in 1968 as part of the Woodruff Arts Center campus. The Alliance Theatre will perform its 2017/18 season in 12 different locations in the metro Atlanta area, bringing live theater out into the community it serves. The Alliance plans to return to its new theater space for its 50th anniversary season in the fall of 2018.
