SUMMARY:Amal Walks Across America: We Have A Dream
DESCRIPTION:Little Amal – whose name means ‘hope’ in Arabic – is a 12-foot puppet of a refugee Syrian child who has traveled to 13 countries. This fall she journeys 6\,000 miles from Boston to San Diego and visits 35 cities and towns in the United States. \nSee Little Amal during her special visit to the Woodruff Arts Center beginning on the Sifly Piazza. Inspired by the new book “We Dream a World ” by Atlanta activist Yolanda Renee King\, Alliance Theatre’s teen ensemble will present a new performance piece with Little Amal that explores issues impacting our youth\, and together\, they will carry forward a message of hope for a different world in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr.  Special guest artists will include Yolanda Renee King\, High Museum’s Teen Team\, Global Village Project Chorus\, Alif Institute’s Youth Drummers\, and the South Atlanta Sonic Boom Drumline.   \nIn conjunction with the performance\, the High Museum’s Teen Team will host an art-making activity that encourages the public to make their own protest posters to bring on the march with Little Amal. Visit the Ann Cox Chambers Wing Lobby of the High Museum between 12pm-3pm to participate. \nPresented by Alliance Theatre and High Museum of Art. In partnership with the Global Village Project\, Refuge Coffee Co.\, Alif Institute\, and the Mayor’s Office of International & Immigrant Affairs. \nAmal Walks Across America is produced by The Walk Productions in association with the Handspring Puppet Company. \nFind more information on all of Little Amal’s stops in Atlanta here. \n  \n\nDirector: Samantha Provenzano \nMovement Consultant: George Staib \nSpecial Guest: Yolanda Renee King \nFeatured Artists: Alliance Theatre’s Teen Ensemble\, High Museum’s Teen Team\, Adrienne Ocfemia\, Global Village Project Chorus\, Alif Institute Youth Drummers\, South Atlanta Sonic Boom Drumline \nCostume Design: April Andrews \nSound Design: Multiband Studios \nProps: Suzanne Cooper Morris \n  \n
