SUMMARY:Reiser Lab Auditions: IN SPITE OF YEARS OF SILENCE
DESCRIPTION:Casting Call for Reiser Lab Round 11 project\, “In Spite of Years of Silence.” Auditions will be held Monday\, March 9\, 6:30 – 9:30 PM. \nShow Description\n“In Spite Of Years Of Silence” takes the audience on a journey through the interweaving narratives of three children and their fathers\, as they communicate their stories through poetry\, music\, and dance. Each narrative discusses the characters’ (sometimes shared) experiences with the concept of Blackness\, faith\, community\, and interpersonal relationships\, as they delve further into the messy and complicated\, yet beautiful tapestry of Black parent and child relationships. “In Spite Of Years Of Silence” seeks to leave audiences with the message that the journey to love\, community\, and healing in Black parent-child relationships are not exactly straightforward\, but are worthwhile undertakings… especially in a world that continues to devalue them. \n\nCharacter Descriptions\nFather In Hat \nBlack man\, between 28-40 years old. A little nerdy\, and talks a little too much. Outgoing and self-confident\, but internally yearns for a piece of himself that he can’t quite name. He matches that missing piece of himself to his father\, but that\, ultimately\, may not be the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle. \nMother In Chain\nBlack woman\, between 28-40 years old. Smart\, witty\, and independent. She’s learned growing up that self-reliance is the only way through most problems. She has also learned\, whether right or wrong\, that the only person that you can hold accountable is yourself. And she has held herself accountable for everything\, even when something wasn’t her fault. She wants to learn forgiveness\, of herself and others\, but is having difficulty coming into that. \nFather In Black\nBlack man\, between 28-40 years old. Hip-hop\, cool. Silent and subtle\, but not because he doesn’t have anything to say; rather\, he’s been transformed by grief. Under the hard exterior is a soft\, but opinionated individual. He would rather be that person all the time\, but isn’t sure how. \n\nHow to Audition\nAuditions will be scheduled in 15 minute increments. If you’re interested in auditioning for a role\, please email your preferred time slot between 6:30 – 9:30pm to Director\, Kirsten King (therealkirstenking@gmail.com) and CC Writer\, Ryan Jones (gohomeryan@gmail.com) to be assigned an audition slot. Sides and additional info will be sent to those who sign up for auditions. Spoken word artists\, lyricists\, poets\, actors who resonate with poetry\, and performers of diversity are encouraged to audition.

SUMMARY:College Night: Fires\, Ohio
DESCRIPTION:5:30 – 7:00 PM // Pre-Show Event\n7:30 PM // Performance of Fires\, Ohio \nJoin us for an insightful panel with Spelman College professor\, T. Lang\, and a pre-show performance by Spelman Dance Theatre\, then attend a performance of Fires\, Ohio. Event hosted by the Alliance Theatre’s Spelman Leadership Interns. Food and drink provided. All college students are welcome. \nUse promo code FIRE15 to purchase tickets. \nGet Show Tickets \nPerformances of Fires\, Ohio run on the Hertz Stage February 25 through March 22\, 2026 – learn more. \n\n\n\n\nT. Lang is a shape-shifting architect of embodied Black futurism. Her work merges contemporary modern dance with immersive technology\, poetic storytelling\, and radical pedagogy to illuminate narratives rooted in identity\, history\, and community. With a choreographic language that is physically evocative and emotionally resonant\, Lang invites audiences into powerful\, subjective experiences shaped by cultural memory and collective inquiry. \nAs an Associate Professor and the Inaugural Chair of the Dance Performance and Choreography Department at Spelman College\, Lang has reimagined dance education through a decolonial lens; developing curricula that frame embodiment as a 21st-century intellectual\, artistic\, and civic practice. Her courses interrogate the movement of Black bodies through historical\, political\, and liberatory frameworks\, positioning the classroom as both studio and site of social reckoning. Her innovative integration of XR technology has earned her national recognition\, including the 2024 Black Public Media Fellowship\, 2022 and 2024 Emory University Arts & Social Justice Fellowship\, and 2023 Princeton University’s Collaboration\, Research and Innovation Grant. She received a National Endowment for the Arts award for her project Out From the Deep: Unraveling Them Turners; a historically grounded\, technologically immersive dance work and recently a 2025 UNCF/Mellon Teaching and Learning Institute grant award for her professional work with T. Lang Dance. \nLang was the 2024 National Dance Educators Organization (NDEO) award recipient for the Outstanding Dance Educator in Higher Education (Established category). Lang expanded her work as Movement Director for fashion haus EUKONO for their collaboration during Paris Fashion week 2025. She continues her new developments with movement and creative technology with artist residencies at Georgia Tech and Duke University as she begins creating for her upcoming work\, Thighs of Thunder. Lang received her BFA at University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and her MFA at NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
