SUMMARY:Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab Round 7 Showcase: PERIL
DESCRIPTION:PERIL follows the parallel journeys of Kevin\, an aspiring influencer\, and Sessue Hayakawa\, the first Hollywood sex symbol\, as they navigate existence and the desire to be seen in times of heightened nationalist tensions. An examination of Asian identity\, the limits of representation\, and the often blurry line between entertainment\, news\, and propaganda.\n \nFunding for the Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab is provided by Margaret and Bob Reiser. Support is also provided by the Mark & Evelyn Trammell Foundation. \n  \nReiser Lab Artists\nPlaywright/Lead Artist……………………….Skye Passmore\nCo-creator/Actor……………………….Michelle Pokopac\nDirector……………………….Amee Vyas \n  \nNOTE: The content of this staged reading includes profanity\, racial humor\, racial violence (including slurs)\, gender humor\, gender violence (including slurs)\, suicide\, imperialist nationalism\, depictions of white supremacy\, cynical media\, familial abuse\, war\, graphic images\, cruelty\, and the sound of fireworks. \nAlso\, with the unfortunate news of the multiple mass shootings this weekend – including the racially motivated attack in Buffalo\, NY – we wanted to make you aware that this reading tackles difficult issues surrounding race and identity in a frank way\, including stark visual references to the Atlanta spa attacks that occurred last year. We want you to be emotionally prepared for what you will see. \n
