Dr. Sherrie Maricle

Sherrie is the leader of The Diva Jazz Orchestra, FIVE PLAY, and The Diva Jazz Trio. She is also the drummer for The New York Pops and enjoys a varied career as a performer, composer and music director. Over the past 20 years, her bands have performed around the world and been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, The Kennedy Center’s 25th Anniversary TV Special, and NPR’s Piano Jazz. Additionally Diva is featured in the award-winning film The Girls in the Band. In 2012 Sherrie created Musical Magic for the Ronald McDonald House New York, providing concert and music-making experiences for New York City children’s hospitals. Sherrie has received several awards and honors, most notably the Kennedy Center’s 2009 Mary Lou Williams Lifetime Achievement Award. Diva’s latest CD, recorded “live” at Lincoln Center, will be released in July.
