This past year has been one of immeasurable highs for us as a theater and a community. Thank you guys so much for pouring into this artistic and for embracing the stories we have been so proud to share. Before we ring in the new year here are a few of our most memorable moments from the past 365 days.

1. Eliana Pipes’ DREAM HOUSE was a standout on the Hertz stage. Selected as the winner of our 2021/22 Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition, DREAM HOUSE forced us all to explore what we are willing to sacrifice for progress and the cultural cost of those sacrifices.

2. Camps and classes were always full of fun, creativity, and drama! We can’t wait to bring you new classes, play days and field trips next year!

3. TRADING PLACES had been in the works for years before it finally premiered on the Coca Cola Stage and boy was opening night full of all the glitz, you’d expect from this world premiere musical. Written by Thomas Lennon and directed by Kenny Leon, this show brought heavy hitters together both on and off stage.

4. A bittersweet moment for us all. We were all sad to see Susan V. Booth leave the Alliance Theatre, yet excited for Chicago to welcome home its Artistic Champ to the Goodman Theatre. We miss you SVB!

5. Before her departure Susan V. Booth, along Co-Director Tinashe Kajese-Bolden brought us EVERYBODY! Written by Branden Jacob-Jenkins, this show is one like no other. With performers selecting a new role every night, ‘everybody’ was invited to the party.

6. Our takeovers this year provided our audiences with a behind the scenes look at how our actors prep for their performances!

7. Over six field trip days, ROOB AND NOOB welcomed 16 schools, 4 home school groups and thousands of students from all over metro Atlanta to take part in this interactive program in the Rich Theatre!

8. Family programs are always a big hit, but something about THE INCREDIBLE BOOK EATING BOY was extra…yummy. These amazing costumes we created by our fantastically talented costume shop in between hemming and stitching and sewing. Simply put, IBEB was a big BITE of creativity. No pun intended.

9. Finally, A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The holidays were made even more special by the thousands of people filling our galleria in the freezing cold to see this story unfold. There’s nothing like welcoming family back and this year every night of A CHRISTMAS CAROL felt like a big hug. One we all needed.
