To Stay or To Leave – Immigration and Identity in/from Iran
Do you ever think about who you would be if you never had to think about staying or leaving? – English
Join us for a community conversation about immigration, identity, and language at the heart of Sanaz Toossi’s play English. This post-show dialogue will feature Dr. Fay Borhani, Darya Fard, and Marjan Yavari, guest speakers who have immigrated from Iran at different moments in recent history. They will reflect on the production and their journey of working and living in a new language and culture.

Fay Borhani – Economist and Ph.D. student in PhysicsDr. Fay Borhani came to the U.S. to pursue a degree in economics at Pennsylvania State University. She received her Ph.D. in Economics in 2016. Since then, she has worked both in academia and industry as an economist. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student of physics at Georgia Institute of Technology with a focus on topological properties of quantum materials. |

Darya Fard – ArtistDarya Fard is a multidisciplinary artist with a printmaking/installation concentration whose work examines metaphorical and symbolic mythical creatures inspired by Persian poetry, mythology, and psychological studies. Darya received her first MFA degree in painting in Tehran, Iran, and an MFA degree in 2022 from Georgia State University, where she continues to teach as a visiting lecturer. She is the recipient of the Atlanta Midtown Alliance residency program 2023-2024. |
