Auditions & Casting
The Alliance Theatre is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of our organization. We encourage people of all races, ethnicities, religions, orientations, creeds, and the differently abled to submit for auditions.
Commitment to Local
The Alliance generally holds two invited calls for each of its Coca-Cola and Hertz Productions. The first in Atlanta with intent to cast as many local actors as possible and appropriate, and the second in New York (NY calls are based primarily on agent submissions through adjunct NY Casting Directors). Theatre for Youth and Family Productions are cast exclusively with metro-Atlanta actors. Local actors are defined as someone who resides within a 60-mile radius from the Capitol.
Actor Submission
Actors interested in being considered for casting at the Alliance Theatre must submit a headshot and resume. Actors local to metro Atlanta should submit to generals@alliancetheatre.org, where they will be invited to an upcoming General Auditions session. Actors not local to Atlanta are encouraged to submit based on specific show roles being produced in the current season. Out of Town actors should submit to ootcasting@alliancetheatre.org.

General Auditions for Local Actors
General Auditions are the Alliance Theatre’s opportunity to meet new actors and/or be reacquainted with actors they might already know. Generals serve as a way for the Alliance to get to know a talent’s skill set to determine if there are future projects that they might be right for. A General Audition does not guarantee a callback for a specific production or project within any season.
When invited to a General Audition, actors are asked to prepare two contrasting monologues/pieces that together are no longer than 2.5 minutes. Pieces can contrast in any number of ways, including in tone or style or genre (no Shakespeare). If they are a singer, they are free to replace one monologue with 16-32 bars of a song. There will not be an accompanist or speaker available, so the Alliance encourages singers to sing a cappella or to bring their own speaker.
Actors may also replace a monologue with any kind of additional performance piece they feel speaks to their specific talents (i.e. dance, poetry, rap, puppetry, etc.).
The Alliance Theatre requests that actors wait 12 months after their most recent General Audition to resubmit their materials for consideration.
Training Resources
Young people and adults who are interested in acting classes can explore more offerings by the Alliance Education Department online. Many of these classes offer audition experience and often conclude with a performance.
The Alliance Education Department also offers free resources for actors and playwrights of any experience level.
Come Curious. Leave Changed.
