About the Class

Learn how to bring your stories to life on the stage in this six-week introductory playwriting class designed for aspiring writers and storytellers. Students will explore the essential creative elements needed to write a compelling script, from shaping a strong story arc to developing believable characters and writing engaging, dynamic dialogue. This class is perfect for budding playwrights of all experience levels who are ready to begin their writing journey. By the end of the course, each student will have written a complete, original scene for the stage. This course culminates with a mini-staged reading of students’ scripts.

Jordan Rice

Jordan Rice is an actress from Atlanta, GA. She began training at the Youth Ensemble of Atlanta, where she fell in love with all things performing. At age 11, she made her film debut in Ava DuVernay's "Selma". Some of her recent notable work includes portraying Marie Ndiaye in the Broadway Tour of "Jaja's African Hair Braiding" and Jackie Carson in the Apple TV+ Series, "Swagger". She's been recognized as a 2024 Southeast Emmy Nominee for Talent Performance and a 2020 YoungArts Theatre Winner. Rice is passionate about expanding the artistic space for marginalized artists to have more prominent voices in the industry.
