About the Class

Explore the art of storytelling through music by adapting myths, folk tales, and fairy tales into original songs. Students will uncover how stories evolve to reflect different societies and learn the purpose of key musical theater song types, including the opening number, the “I Want” song, the antagonist’s song, and the transformative “eleven-o’clock” number. Guided by creative discussion and collaborative exercises, students will craft their own pieces, blending timeless storytelling with their unique musical voices.
