As a composer, John’s over forty film scores include the Oscar-nominated A Touch of Class, Kes, The Ruling Class, Jack the Ripper, To End All Wars. TV scores include the Emmy nominated Path to 9-11, Jack The Ripper & Disney’s Little House On The Prairie. Theatre compositions include music for Becket, Faust Parts I and II (RSC) and the National Theatre’s production of Hamlet with Simon Russell Beale. John’s concert works includes the Cantata, Missa Celtica. As co-composer of Zorro, John was nominated for an Olivier award (2009). As an arranger, John created the orchestral score for every version of Les Misérables between 1979–2005 including the original Robert Hossein production and the RSC, Broadway, tour and concert versions (New York Drama Desk Award, National Broadway Theatre Award 2002). Shows arranged/orchestrated include: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Honk!, and Spend, Spend, Spend.
