Phil Colgan is a creative, performer, and dance educator born and raised in New York City. On Broadway, Phil was the Associate Choreographer of New York, New York, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, and was seen onstage in Hamilton (Charles Lee), and & Juliet (Dance Captain). Other favorite creative credits include Jesus Christ Superstar (The REV), the LGBTQIA+ reimagining of The Wizard of Oz (Geva Theater); numerous music videos including “Days Gone By” by Midlake (starring Ted Lasso’s James Lance); and special events like Broadway Bares. Phil was also Associate Director/Choreographer to Joshua Bergasse for the new musical World’s Greatest Lover (Edinburgh Fringe Festival). As a performer, Phil opened the national tour of Hamilton (Philip Company) as dance captain, then moving into a universal swing position across the show’s five North American companies. He was also seen in the Off-Broadway premiere of Andy Blankenbuehler’s Only Gold at MCC Theater, in shows regionally at Paper Mill, Maine State, The Fulton, Ogunquit Playhouse, Gateway Playhouse, and The REV, and on TV in the opening number of The Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and The Drew Barrymore Show. Phil was the recipient of the 2023 Emerging Theater Artist Award from the Theater Hall of Fame, and he is currently on faculty at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in NYC. @philcolgan
