Suehyla El-Attar Young
Suehyla El-Attar Young (she/her) is a professional actor/writer/director and teaching artist based in Atlanta, GA. Her multi-decade career as an actor spans stages across the United States and screens, big and small, receiving recognition for her performances with multiple nominations from the Atlanta Suzi Bass Awards, including a win for Best Supporting Performer. She was named Mississippi Playwright of the year in 2011 and received the Gene-Gabriel Moore Playwriting award in Georgia in 2013. She was one of the first two candidates chosen for the inaugural year of The Alliance Theatre Directing Fellowship in 2014; and in 2021, she was inducted into the Georgia Theatre Hall of Fame. As a teaching artist, Suehyla has developed a playwriting curriculum for all ages and backgrounds, guiding hundreds of students and teachers, alike, into writing their first scripts for the stage. She lives very happily with her husband and their dachshund and kitty.
