Palefsky Collision Project Summer 2023
The 22nd annual Palefsky Collision Project will explore Something Moving: A Meditation on Maynard by Pearl Cleage, Distinguished Artist in Residence, Alliance Theatre. Commissioned by Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC, this play will be produced as the centerpiece of our celebration of the 50th anniversary of Maynard Jackson's election as the first African American Mayor of the City of Atlanta in 1973.
The program will convene on the following dates:
Week 1: Monday, July 10 - Friday, July 14, 2023
Week 2: Monday, July 17 - Thursday, July 20, 2023
Week 3: Monday, July 24 - Saturday, July 29, 2023
Performances:
Friday, July 28, 2023 at 7 PM
Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2:30 PM
How to Apply
The application process for the summer 2023 Palefsky Collision Project is now open and will close in April 2023. Rising 11th Grade, 12th Grade, and Post-Secondary students are encouraged to apply by following the steps outlined below.
Step 1: Sign Up for an Interview
Interviews will occur virtually (via Zoom) in March and April 2023. Applicants must sign up for an interview slot in order to receive the Zoom link and password, which will be distributed by email.

Tuesday, March 21, 2023 (4 - 7 PM EST)
Saturday, March 25, 2023 (10 AM - 1 PM EST)
Tuesday, April 18, 2023 (4 - 7 PM EST)
Thursday, April 20, 2023 (4 - 7 PM EST)
Saturday, April 22, 2023 (10 AM - 1 PM EST)
What to Expect:
Candidates should arrive to the interview at least 5 minutes early and ensure that their Zoom username is easily identifiable (e.g. first and/or last name).
During the interview, the program Director and Playwright will ask you to share a talent. Candidates can share any talent of their choice (e.g. a monologue, song, dance, poem, piece of visual or graphic art, excerpt from original piece of writing, etc.). Candidates are encouraged to plan their talent share in advance and to approach this part of the interview with low stress, as the creative team is always looking for artists' strengths and are fully supportive of each individual's unique artistry.
Step 2: Complete the Application
Candidates must complete the online application form before the date of their interview.
