Making the Complex Simple with Compelling Business Narratives

When incorporating storytelling into the world of business, it is important to keep in mind that storytelling is a tool to meet goals and get results, not an end in itself. This learning session equips the team with strategic storytelling skills that simplify complex concepts to drive business outcomes. Mastering the art of focused storytelling allows the team to cut through noise to build stakeholder trust and move them to act. The team will learn three narrative structures to artfully blend purposeful stories with data to capture attention, deepen understanding, prove points, and influence thoughtful decisions.

This session builds on foundational storytelling skills to develop three types of stories that connect with audiences to get results:

  • Meaningful Moment Stories: Highlight the significance of a pivotal or meaningful experience.
  • Original Metaphor Stories: Create a visual language that makes abstract ideas and challenging concepts relatable and real.
  • Results-Oriented Stories: Showcase accomplishments and solutions via a well-crafted anecdote.

Outcomes

Following the session, the team will be able to...

  • Analyze audiences to select the optimal story type that reinforces key messages.
  • Integrate different story structures into communications across channels.
  • Construct results stories with compelling flow, vivid details, and quantified metrics to influence
    decisions.
  • Use clear, concise language to prove their points quickly.
